Please Be Safe-and Fire Safe
We’re in the midst of fire season, so it’s crucial to be vigilant about anything that could spark a fire, like improper use of power equipment. Avoid using mechanical equipment late in the day, as even a small spark could start a fire. It’s also a good time to ensure you and your family are prepared in case of a wildfire.
Assemble a Go Bag for everyone in your family, including items for your pets (food, water, bedding, leashes, medications, bowls, etc.) in case you need to evacuate. Consider creating an Emergency Binder with important documents. Include copies of items from your wallet (driver’s license, insurance cards, credit cards) and key documents like birth certificates, marriage licenses, immunization records, wills, trusts, and passports. Don’t forget to add similar information for your pets.
Create a master list of important phone numbers—don’t rely on your cell phone. When organizing your binder, find a system that works for you, such as grouping similar documents in clear plastic protectors. Consider storing it in a fireproof safe that’s easy to access in case you need to grab it quickly. This may seem daunting, but it’s time well spent, and once organized, you’ll have the peace of mind that everything is in one place and ready to go. Please reach out to us if there are any questions.
