Help Protect Scripps Ranch — Join the Fire Safe Council

Dear Neighbor,

Nearly 23 years ago, the Cedar Fire changed our community forever. On October 26, 2003, 312 homes in Scripps Ranch were destroyed as flames surged toward our canyon—stopped only 70 feet from entering. It could have been so much worse.

In response, a small group of concerned neighbors formed the Chimney Canyon Fire Safe Council—named after the words of a firefighter who said that had the fire entered our canyon, up to 200 more homes might have been lost. Today, we are the Scripps Ranch Fire Safe Council, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to reducing wildfire risk and protecting our community.

We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished—but we need your help.

We’re currently recruiting volunteers to help carry our mission forward. Whether you have time, skills, or ideas to contribute, there’s a place for you here. We’re especially looking for:

· Residents with social media, communications, or outreach experience

· Volunteers for fundraising and event planning

· Landscapers, handypersons, or those with brush clearing expertise

· Anyone passionate about fire safety and community resilience

If you care about Scripps Ranch and want to make a real difference, we invite you to join us. Even a few hours a month can help us keep our neighborhood informed, prepared, and protected.

Together, we can keep Scripps Ranch fire safe.
